You can expect mostly coastal day sailing on this voyage but there is a sixty mile offshore passage across the Skaggerak as we leave oslo fjord. This means you need offshore insurance which covers you for beyond than 12 miles from the coast. Weather wise expect something similar to a UK summer but a bit warmer and more settled.

From Kristiansand to Oslo the coast is renowned for it's hundreds of islands with predominantly white painted houses in the towns (in the rest of Norway we are used to seeing more of the traditional red ochre colours) tucked into the bays and folds of this undulating and richly forested land.

This area has low rainfall and often hot summers with a regular sea breeze that frequently reaches force five or six later in the day so we are hoping for some good sailing. The Island chain known as the Skjaregard can provide sheltered water sailing nearly all the way to Oslo fjord. There are many small ports fishing villages and anchorages.

Famous Risor with it's 19th centaury boat yards. Kragero, in the 17th century a timber port, then a ship building centre with steep winding streets above a sheltered harbour.

Oslo fjord is a varied cruising ground in it's own right. It will be new territory for us to sail in. We expect it to be much busier that further north in norway but then Oslo is the capital city.

Everyone can get a discount on their sailing holiday.

In an effort to keep prices as low for you as we can we give you a discount if you pay us by bank transfer (or, for your balance payment due when you arrive onboard by bank transfer or cash) this saves us administrative costs which we pass on to you.
You can of course pay us by credit or debit card or cheque but then you need to pay the non discounted price in brackets.

So it's that simple - pay by bank transfer - get a discount!

Getting back from your sailing holiday
Options include lots of flights (try the airlines mentioned above) to Oslo. the only thing to beware of here is that there are two airports for Oslo, Gardemon which is quite a way outside Oslo and the central Oslo airport. Don't get the two mixed up.

What time do I join and leave the boat?
For everything other than our 'learn to sail weekends' arrival time is 6pm on the first day of the voyage and we provide an evening meal. Leaving time is 10 am on the last day of the voyage. However we know flight time can be tricky and vary hugely in price. Early morning flights on the day of arrival can usually be accommodated and for leaving it is often possible to catch a late flight on the day before you are due to leave or an early morning flight on the official day of departure.

Travel in Norway is generally efficient, clean, surprisingly cheap at times and the stunning scenery makes it an experience in itself. Language difficulties almost never arise, most Norwegians speak excellent English.
