You can expect mostly coastal day sailing on this voyage but there is a 130 mile offshore passage when we leave the Kiel canal which potentially makes this one of the more challenging voyages we have on offer this year. Weather wise expect something similar to a UK summer.

Copenhagen
Our voyage start amongst Copenhagens canals, beautiful buildings, gardens and museums.

Sailing To The Kiel Canal

This voyage offers great variety. There are many possible routes on the first leg to Kiel through the southern half of the Danish archipelago. Maybe through the narrow and wooded Svendborg sound to Svendborg itself with it's centuries old tradition of wooden shipbuilding. One of the many ports and anchorages to be found in this interesting area called the 'Great Belt'

Further west we come to the 'little belt' with its numerous islands and deep fjords all with different characters. Heading south down the east Jutland coast is Flensborg fjord forming the border between Germany and Denmark and then the Kiel canal.

The Kiel Canal
Opened in 1895 and now lined with mature trees this 56 mile long canal is also a busy shipping route and we expect our schooner to be dwarfed by some much larger vessels.

Passage To Harlingen
From Brunsbuttel at the western end of the Kiel canal we make an offshore passage voyage of around 130 miles outside of the Fresian islands until we enter the Waddenzee between Terschelling and Vlieland for the 15 mile channel to Harlingen one of our favourite Dutch towns with the masts and yards of the large traditional Dutch sailing fleet reminiscent of a seafaring port of a hundred years ago.

The Ijsselmere
From Harlingen we pass into the fresh waters of the Ijsselmere and make our way to the wonderful city of Amsterdam calling in at some of the many 17th centuary Zuiderzee ports such as Medemblik, Enkhuisen and Hoorn

Amsterdam
This voyage ends in the centre of the historic city of Amsterdam where we are usually berthed about 20 minutes walk from central station.

Everyone can get a discount on their sailing holiday.

In an effort to keep prices as low for you as we can we give you a discount if you pay us by bank transfer (or, for your balance payment due when you arrive onboard by bank transfer or cash) this saves us administrative costs which we pass on to you.
You can of course pay us by credit or debit card or cheque but then you need to pay the non discounted price in brackets.

So it's that simple - pay by bank transfer - get a discount!

Getting to your sailing holiday
Norwegian Air have flights from £50 one that seems suitable departs London 13.30 arrives Copenhagen 16.20

Wideroe have several flights starting from £65

Getting back from your sailing holiday
We expect Trinovante to be moored close to Central Station in Amsterdam. You can either fly to Schipol or catch a ferry from Harwich to Hook of Holland and then get a train to Central Station, SailRail do an inclusive deal with train fares either end included. Transport direct Is an easy to use A to B journey planner that can work out UK buses, trains and car journeys or a mix of all three.

What time do I join and leave the boat?
For everything other than our 'learn to sail weekends' arrival time is 6pm on the first day of the voyage and we provide an evening meal. Leaving time is 10 am on the last day of the voyage. However we know flight time can be tricky and vary hugely in price. Early morning flights on the day of arrival can usually be accommodated and for leaving it is often possible to catch a late flight on the day before you are due to leave or an early morning flight on the official day of departure.

Travel in Norway
is generally efficient, clean, surprisingly cheap at times and the stunning scenery makes it an experience in itself. Language difficulties almost never arise, most Norwegians speak excellent English. Travel in Denmark we don't have any experience with but we expect it will be good.
