Bergen to Stavanger is nearly all day sailing in sheltered waters amongst the islands and fjords with time to have a wander ashore and potter in fantastic scenery.

Bergen
In 2008 Bergen was one of the host ports for the tall ships races. It's worth adding a day or so to your holiday before joining Trinovante to have some time in Bergen . Its a compact city with several good museums and some very pretty historic areas to walk around. If the weather is nice a ride up the funicular gives you spectacular views of the city below and surrounding fjords and islands right out to sea. You can also hike out further above Bergen. The top photo on our Alesund to Bergen sailing holiday page was taken last year about an hours walk from the funicular.

Highlights on the way
Head inland just a little below Bergen and you are into the full blown fjord land of the Hardanger area. This photo of Trinovante on this page was taken in this area. Places we might visit include the hanging glacier at Sundal and Nordheimsund traditional boat centre. Futher south the scenery is gentler and the waters more open as we pass through Haugesund and hopefully have time to visit Lysfjord, which always gets a special mention in the pilot books.

On to Stavanger
Stavanger has some attractive areas for to explore and lots to do. We think the Petroleum museum is not to be missed and shows just how good a museum can be with a decent budget. There are lots of high quality models, interactive displays, and in depth info about everything from the geology to the political aspects of oil. It even has an adventure play area made out of old oil industry equipment.

All voyage notes refer only to possible itineraries - where we sail, passage lengths and the places we call into will be entirely dependent on the wind and weather at the time.

Everyone can get a discount on their sailing holiday.

In an effort to keep prices as low for you as we can we give you a discount if you pay us by bank transfer (or, for your balance payment due when you arrive onboard by bank transfer or cash) this saves us administrative costs which we pass on to you.
You can of course pay us by credit or debit card or cheque but then you need to pay the non discounted price in brackets.

So it's that simple - pay by bank transfer - get a discount!

For everything other than our 'learn to sail weekends' arrival time is 6pm on the first day of the voyage and we provide an evening meal. Leaving time is 10 am on the last day of the voyage. However we know flight time can be tricky and vary hugely in price. Early morning flights on the day of arrival can usually be accommodated and for leaving it is often possible to catch a late flight on the day before you are due to leave or an early morning flight on the official day of departure. Please do check things with us before booking flights though.

Travel in Norway is generally efficient, clean, surprisingly cheap at times and the stunning scenery makes it an experience in itself. Language difficulties almost never arise, most Norwegians speak excellent English.
