Sailing Holiday Netherlands and UK
Amsterdam to St Osyth, Essex
Amsterdam
You will be joining the boat in the center of Amsterdam for this voyage. When we did this voyage a last year back, because of the weather, we ended us sailing around the Dutch Inland waters and exploring the beautiful old Dutch red brick towns for a couple of days before crossing over to the UK. This might happen again but, if the weather is with us, we would plan to leave straight away for home. Whichever way we do it it's an interesting voyage.
Crossing the North Sea
Once we have traveled down the North Sea canal it's straight out of the lock at Ijmiuden, into the sea. The overnight passage of about 120 miles keeps us on our toes with plenty of shipping and buoyage for the different watches to keep an eye out for en route. As crew you will immediately be into steering a compass course and settling into life at sea.
Landfall in the UK
Could be anywhere from Yarmouth to Harwich, depending on the weather. We plan to spend a couple of days 'day sailing' and showing you some of the Thames Estuary Rivers such as the Orwell, Stour and Blackwater . These are our home waters where Trinovante is well known and there is plenty of scope for quite anchorages and, hopefully, a beer in our favorite pub in Harwich before we head on to Trinovante's home river, the Colne.
St Osyth
This voyage will be ending at St Osyth Boatyard, a home for traditional wooden boat building and a historic Essex village (see articles about this traditional boatyard on SchoonerSail's sailing holiday blog).
Crew will then be able to take a short taxi or bus ride into Clacton Station where there are good connections to London and the South East.
Everyone can get a discount on their sailing holiday.
In an effort to keep prices as low for you as we can we give you a discount if you pay us by bank transfer (or, for your balance payment due when you arrive onboard by bank transfer or cash) this saves us administrative costs which we pass on to you.
You can of course pay us by credit or debit card or cheque but then you need to pay the non discounted price in brackets.
So it's that simple - pay by bank transfer - get a discount! |
